The Brief
We recently completed a garage conversion in Lancaster, turning an unused single garage into a bright and practical playroom for a growing family.
The homeowners wanted more living space without extending their property. Our goal was to create a room that felt like a natural part of the home while giving the family a dedicated area to relax and play.
Matching the Existing Stonework
To keep the character of the property, we sourced stone from a local quarry and matched it as closely as possible to the existing stonework.
This helped the new garage conversion blend seamlessly with the rest of the house and maintain its original appearance.
Opening Up the Space
The original garage window and door were removed and replaced with modern sliding doors leading out to the back garden.
The new doors brought in plenty of natural light and made the room feel much larger. They also created a stronger connection between the house and outdoor space.
Practical Storage Solutions
We built a dedicated storage cupboard to house the boiler. This kept essential services neatly hidden away while freeing up valuable floor space for the family to enjoy.
Finishing Touches
To complete the room, we installed herringbone LVT flooring throughout.
LVT is a popular choice for family homes because it’s durable, easy to maintain and looks fantastic. The herringbone pattern added warmth, style and character to the finished space.
Building Control Approval
Every stage of the project met current building regulations. Once the work was complete, Building Control carried out their final inspection and issued a Completion Certificate.
